Susanne Challand Pobuda

Sue passed away peacefully on February 15th at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta as a result of  complications from a heart attack.

Sue was born in Napier, New Zealand and met and married Gib Challand in New Zealand where their son Dean was born.  They came to Canada later that year, settling in Gib’s hometown of Claresholm, where their daughter Nicole was born in 1972. Sue married Doug Pobuda in 1984 and she resided in Claresholm until her passing.

Sue was good hearted, thoughtful and always had a smile and was willing to help anyone.  She enjoyed golfing and spending time with family and friends. Sue worked at TransAlta Utilities for many years.

She is survived by her loving husband Doug and her son Dean (Heather) Son-in-law Mark Lee,  grandchildren Denton and Jordyn Sandy, Jarrid Baxter,  Zak Challand and Tegan Lee.  She also leaves a sister Louise in New Zealand.

She was predeceased by her daughter Nicki Lee (2017) and her parents Boy and Betty Mendellsohn.

At Sue’s request no formal funeral service will be held.  Donations can be made to CARES - Claresholm AB PO Box 2579 Claresholm, AB T0L 0T0  for anyone wishing to make a contribution in Sue’s memory.
