Spencer Groenenboom
July 24, 1994 – April 27, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Spencer Groenenboom, who went to be with his Lord and Saviour on April 27, 2026, at the age of 31. His passing was sudden and tragic, leaving an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Spencer was born on July 24, 1994, in Lethbridge, Alberta. He was raised with a strong foundation of faith; was homeschooled, and later pursued biblical studies at Bethany and at Steinbach Bible College. His love for the Lord shaped his life, and he lived with quiet strength, humility, and deep care for others.
On October 13, 2023, Spencer married his best friend and the love of his life, Rianne. Although their marriage was much too short, it was filled with many sweet and tender moments.
Spencer was a diligent and devoted crop farmer, known for his precision, keen attention to detail, and deep care for the land. He found great joy in God’s creation, especially in the mountains, with a special place in his heart for Fernie. He also cherished time in the skies, flying his father’s airplane, “Foxy,” which brought him great joy and a deep connection to many treasured memories.
Spencer will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Rianne Groenenboom; his mother, Yvonne Groenenboom; and his sisters, Shelby (Sam Korsholm), Cheyenne (Jeremy Van Hierden), Nikita, and Peyton. He was deeply loved by his father, Darryl Groenenboom, who predeceased him on March 3, 2022.
He is also lovingly remembered by Klaas and Nettie den Toom; Justin (Elizabeth), Claudia (Jacob Peters), Hester, Nicole, Tabitha, Annalynn and Josiah.
He will be dearly missed by all his nieces; Brighton, Felicity, Aubrey, and Emma; and his nephews, Valour, Deacon, Ezra, Aaron, Asher, Wesley, and Nathaniel.
Spencer will also be fondly remembered and missed by grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends from Canada and Europe.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we rejoice in knowing he is now at peace in the presence of his Saviour.
A Funeral Service will be held at Nobleford Christian Reformed Church on May 4, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. (522 Highway Avenue, Nobleford, Alberta)
There will be an opportunity to donate to the Canadian Food Grains Bank in memory of Spencer at the service.
