Shirley Rose Stange (nee Beaton) passed on to join her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her beloved
Arnold on Sunday, July 16, 2023,at the age of 85, following a shockingly short illness.
Shirley is survived by her two children, William (Billy), his wife Stephanie, their children Cade and Payton
and her daughter, Arlene, her husband Paul and their children Austin (Elyse Haglund) and Jordan, as well
as her sister, Tillie Werstuik, her brother, Lawrence (Myrna) Beaton, her sisters-in-law, Rosemarie
Beaton and Rebecca Beaton, her brother-in-law, William Finkbiner and many nieces, nephews and other
family members who feel this loss so deeply.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Ada and Gilbert Beaton, and siblings Viola Petch, Irene Ayers,
Myrtle Warren, Clarence Beaton, John Beaton, Mable Both and Lorraine Finkbiner.
Shirley was born June 15, 1938 at Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, the 8 th of what would eventually be 10
children. As a young adult, she moved around to different locations working as far away as the Yukon
until she settled on nursing, which brought her to Claresholm where she met the love of her life, Arnold
Stange. She worked at the Claresholm Care Centre until her retirement in 2007. Shirley was a founding
member of the Claresholm Food Bank and volunteered there until her passing.
Shirley and Arnold made a life on the family farm, where they lived until Arnold’s passing in 2016. She
stayed on the farm until this past November, when health dictated she could no longer be there on her
own.
For all who knew her, they were blessed to do so. She was kind, compassionate, graceful and always had
a kind and supportive word. She was a devout Christian who lived her entire life in her love of God and
her study of his teachings. She will be missed but she is where she always wanted to be.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in
Claresholm, Alberta, with Pastor Donna Alm officiating. Internment to follow at St. Peters Lutheran
Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Chad Zentner, Zentner Funeral Homes.
