Shirley Faye (McKenzie) Clark

April 14, 1928 ~ September 4, 2020 (age 92)

The world lost a dear soul on September 4th, 2020 when Shirley Faye (McKenzie) Clark passed away at the age of 92 years in Claresholm, Alberta.

Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband, Don Clark less than a year before. They were married 69 years.

Shirley was born in Jasper, Alberta and lived there until the age of three when her family was transferred to Wainwright, Alberta. She completed her schooling and upon graduating from high school, she moved to Edmonton, Alberta where she was hired by TCA (now Air Canada) as a teletype operator in the weather office, a skill she learned from her dad.

While living in Wainwright, Shirley met her future husband Don, who was in the Dental Corp at the Wainwright Army Base during the Second World War. After the war, Don continued his education, studying dentistry at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Shirley and Don were married during this time on June 3rd, 1950. After graduating in 1953, they moved to Don’s hometown, Claresholm, Alberta where he set up his dental practice. They built a beautiful home where they lived the remainder of their lives until health issues presented in their elderly years.

Shirley was a devoted mother of two girls - her family meant the world to her. She loved life and had many friends throughout her life. She always took the time to “put the coffee pot on” or would say “come on in for a Coke float” when friends dropped by. She always had some yummy cookie or treat to eat. She loved a good laugh and was often the life of a party.

Shirley had many activities she loved. Figure skating being one and later was one of the founders of the Claresholm Figure Skating Club and president for several years. She was a beautiful pianist, receiving her Teacher Degree. She was a great cook, and made the best roast beef and yorkshire pudding around. She was an excellent baker and made the best pies ever! She was also a beautiful seamstress and knitter.

She loved her flowers and loved to garden. She loved all the little dogs she had throughout her life. Shirley loved God and did her best to live her best life.
