Bob Lindsay passed away at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre in Claresholm on Monday, August 6, 2018. Bob was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta to Robert Alexander Lindsay and Edna Winnifred Leonard. He is survived by his son Mike Lindsay (Nina Ewing); daughter-in-law Jennifer Lindsay; daughter Kathy (Paul) Chapman; daughter Corby (Kevin) Seaborg; grandchildren Chelsey (David) Reidford; Desirée (Sam) Scherwitz; Naomi (David) Witzel; Peter Chapman; Marianna Chapman; great-grandchildren Sutton, Brooks, Samson, London, Roman, Lydia and Jack. Bob was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth (Liz) in November 2013 and his son Geoffery (Jeff) in March 1998.
Bob began working at a young age delivering newspapers around town (Medicine Hat) and at CFB Suffield. In high school and his early twenties, he worked at the Suffield Experimental Station, for the CPR in Field, BC, coached and played basketball, baseball, hockey and worked for his father-in-law, F.R. Gibbs Construction. Bob graduated with a Bachelor of Phys Ed from UBC and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta. While attending both universities, Bob played for their respective hockey teams, the Thunderbirds and the Golden Bears. He taught school in Lethbridge and Medicine Hat for a few years but was soon drawn to a life of cattle ranching, breeding and showing Arabian horses and eventually selling rural real estate.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Peace Lutheran Church (4304-2nd Street West) in Claresholm, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Claresholm & District Health Foundation (P.O. Box 2638, Claresholm, Alberta, T0L 0T0, Ph. 403-682-3739).
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Willow Creek Continuing Care Center for supporting and caring for Bob during the past year and a half. Thank you also to Willow Creek Funeral Home and Pastor Donna Alm and the church family of Peace Lutheran Church.
