Robert George Commisso (Bob) was born January 10, 1938 in Bellvue, Alberta and passed away on March 31, 2018 in Claresholm. Bob was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Kay Strangways, wife Sandra Commisso and son-in-law Brian Thiessen. He is survived by daughter Ramona Thiessen and grandchildren Larissa (Joey) Meunier and Carly Thiessen; son Robbie Commisso, daughter Drena (Jayson) Walmsley and grandchildren Jacob, Michael and Kay Lynn; as well as great-grandchildren Sandy and Gabriel Meunier.
Bob started work on his family’s farm. He also did construction, but his passion was cooking; Bob cooked on the B.C. Ferries, Cross Roads Hotel, Claresholm Care Centre, Bill’s Coffee Shop, Alberta Transportation (bridge crew) and Sara Consulting (for food sampling at grocery stores) to name a few. He was also involved with the start up of the Claresholm Transportation Society. Bob was a Red Seal Chef and passed on his knowledge to many in the community.
Bob and his wife Sandy loved fishing, camping and spending time with family. They always had an open door policy for extra friends that needed a place to stay. Because of his big heart, he will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Willow Creek Funeral Home (4079-1 Street West, Claresholm).
