Robert Lloyd Hodgson
November 22, 1937 - February 11, 2026
Our beloved Bob passed away in his 88th year, after a lengthy decline due to Interstitial lung disease. He was the eldest son of Lloyd and Gertrude (Falconer) Hodgson, with two brothers Arthur (Sue) and David (Dodi). He always credited his parents for instilling a lifelong appreciation of Christian values which he tried to live every day. Born in St. Catharines, ON and raised in Fonthill, Bob spent most of his adult years in Hamilton.
With his first wife, Doris (Young), Bob had two daughters that he loved dearly: Laura Jane and Rebecca Ann (Bertrand). He was thrilled when his grandson, Marlon, arrived in 2015. One of Bob’s great wishes was to live long enough to see Marlon mature into a “good man” and was very proud of Marlon’s accomplishments as a young boy and his enthusiasm for everything from cooking to motorcross.
Bob’s life changed dramatically when he met Jane Cooper and they realized how similar their interests were. Married in 1981, as best friends they gave loving support to each other for over 45 years.
In 2019 they left Ontario for Okotoks, AB to be close to Jane’s daughter Lara (Chris), where they could be close to family for support. Okotoks proved to be a very welcoming community and wonderful neighbours soon made it feel like home.
After graduating from The Western Business School in 1960, Bob began his 35-year career in advertising with Russell T Kelly Company Ltd., working with wonderful colleagues and clients some of whom became life-long friends. With an MBA in hand, Bob joined McMaster University as Director of External Relations for The DeGroote School of Business in 1994. In retirement, he spent another 12 years with Award Limousine serving funeral homes throughout the Niagara area. He was very proud of the fact there was never a time in 60 years when he did not have a job!
Family and friends will miss Bob dearly and agree this was life worth celebrating. Perhaps consider sending someone you love flowers to brighten their day or make a donation in memory to your favourite charity. Due to age of friends and distance, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place and internment will be at the Foothills Cemetery, Diamond Valley, Alberta
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful attention that Bob received at the Rockyview, Foothills, Oilfields and Claresholm hospitals, from the specialists to the nurses and support staff, he was the fortunate recipient of their great expertise and care.
