It is with great sadness, the family of Pete Dubois announce his passing on June 2, 2021. Pete will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Erna and two sons, Doyle (Catherine) and Jason (Tracy), grandchildren Breanna (Ty) and Greg (Alicia), as well as his great-grandchildren, Memphis, Preslee, Cade and Gabriella. Pete was predeceased by his daughter, Jori Dubois (Gerald McNair), in 2004.
Joseph Edmond Pierre Dubois (Peter) was born in St. Paul, Alberta, on April 28, 1941, and was the oldest son of four children. He went to school in Cluny, AB and grew up with horses and began racing at a young age. Pete married Erna on June 24, 1964, and moved to Stavely and then Claresholm with their children Doyle, Jori and Jason. Pete lived for the horses and worked many hours at the Claresholm Agriplex and various jobs within town. Pete and Erna went with the horses part-time on the B Circuit on weekends, and when Pete retired from the Agriplex, they went full-time to work and train horses at Lethbridge and Grand Prairie. Pete was the lead trainer to many established horses that went onto the A circuit and won many races.
There will be a private service held at a later date with immediate family in attendance.
Memorial donations may be made to STARS Air Ambulance, 1441 Aviation Park NE, PO Box 570, Calgary, AB, T2E8M7.
