Patrick Lloyd Sherman, age 86, passed away peacefully on Jan 4 at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born on August 18, 1939 in Claresholm AB to Kathleen and Lloyd Sherman, he was raised west of Claresholm on the family farm before moving to Granum at age 9, where he attended school and was captain of the high school basketball team.
He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Alberta, graduating in 1961. He began his career at Barber Machinery, then joined Canada Cement, which later became Lafarge, where he worked across the country for nearly 40 years. He was a lifelong Catholic and proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was first married to Lorraine Boyden with whom he had four children: Craig, Diane, Susan and Todd. After Lorraine's passing, he married Theresa Bowes in 1982, and together they had 2 children: Ryan and Kevin.
Pat will be remembered as a dedicated family man and a devoted husband.
He is survived by his wife Theresa; his children Craig, Diane, Ryan, and Kevin; 6 grandchildren; and his brother Bill.
He was predeceased by his first wife Lorraine, his daughter Susan, his son Todd, and his parents Kathleen and Lloyd Sherman.
A memorial service will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Claresholm on Monday January 12th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta.
