Nellie "Leona" (Mcdonald) Schmid

Nellie “Leona” Schmid passed away in Claresholm Alberta, September 03, 2024, at the age of 84.   She will be deeply missed by her husband of 55 years Wayne Schmid, her children, Sandra Bos and her husband, Ted, Kim Burke, Burke Schmid and his wife Holly, her grandchildren, Wyatt Girouard, his wife Kesha, Ty and Layne Lindberg, Joel and, Cal Schmid and, her great grandchildren Simon and Benjamin Girouard. Leona was predeceased by her daughter, Tracy Latham.

Leona spent her married years with her husband Wayne on the Schmid family farm with their children, Tracy, Sandra, Kim, and Burke, and all her animals. Leona’s love of horses started as soon as she could walk, and that continued on the farm with the horses, and everything else she could find!  Leona and Wayne left the family farm in Warner and moved to Milk River where Leona owned the flower shop and loved filling her days with creating.  

Leona and Wayne then moved to Claresholm where she started her dog rooming business 4 Paws Dog Grooming, and she continued that for years.  Claresholm is where Wayne and Leona made their home.
