Matthew Andrew Thompson

It is with great sadness the family of Matthew Andrew Thompson announce his passing on Sunday June 21st 2026. He was fighting cancer with amazing strength and grace. He was our warrior.

Matt was born in Hamilton Ont. He attended school in Hamilton, Hagersville and Okotoks. He attended Sait College where he studied for carpentry and won  many  scholarships for his hard work. He was a 3rd year apprentice when his illness prevented him from finishing.                    

. He began working very early in life at various part time jobs in Okotoks's as a teenager.  He then  worked for Atco,  Stuart Olsen and for his very good friends Eric and Cole Amos at  Exact in Calgary.

Matt was an amazing  father who loved fishing with his children and family,  he enjoyed spending time in Costa Rica with his good friends deep sea fishing, and bow hunting. 

Matt was the loving father of Stanley aged 11 and Rose aged 7 (& Their Mother Danielle)

 He  survived by his parents Tracy Thompson and Angus MacQueen, Lisa Thompson.  Son in law of June and Arnie Todessy. He is predeceased by his father Gary Thompson and brother Robert James and Cousin Nathan. Matt’s surviving siblings are  Keith( Emily), Amanda, and Rebecca(Tyson).  

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday June 30th, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the First Alliance Church - 12345 40 St SE Calgary, Ab
