Mary Jane Pickering, died peacefully January 25, 2024 at 7:26 pm at the Rockyview hospital, with family by her side. She was Born in Fort Macleod on October 12, 1940 to her parents Konon (Mike) and Margaret Zumik. She was raised in Pearce until they moved into Fort Macleod in 1957 , where upon graduation she was employed at Telus (formerly AGT) until her marriage to Walter Pickering on Feb 9, 1962, when they moved to Calgary. Mary continued working at Telus for many years.
Mary had a long rewarding career with Telus and after retirement she joined the TELUS volunteering group, knitting and sewing Garments for patients with dementia. She received an award which was called the Act of Service Award for her 30 years of service of making these items.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Walter after 60 years of marriage, by her parents Mike and Margaret Zumik and by her sister Shirley Anne at early age of 2. Mary is survived by her three sons, Leonard, David and James Pickering, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters Rose Allen and Lucy Pickering.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, at Zentner Funeral Homes – 4079 1st Street W, Claresholm, AB. at 11:00 AM.
