Marjorie Rose Sundquist
April 8, 1937 - August 9, 2023
It is with profound sadness and gentle relief that we let everyone know of the passing of our Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother Marjorie Rose Sundquist (nee Johnson). She was also affectionately known to everyone in the community as Maw.
Mom passed peacefully on August 9, 2023, in the Claresholm General Hospital at the age of 86 with loved ones by her side.
Marj was born in Claresholm on April 8th, 1937, and raised in the Stavely/Claresholm area. On November 18th, 1968, she married the love of her life Leonard Emil Sundquist, bringing their two families together.
Mom was an honorary life member of the Stavely Royal Purple. She was especially proud of the fact that she served over thirty years on their drill team.
Maw was an avid gardener, supplying her family with delicious vegetables throughout the year. She also loved to bake and was well known to most in the community for her rye bread.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by children Margo (Kim), Jo-Lou (Mike), Duke (Tracy), Stephen (Cheryl) and Clay, along with her 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, her brother Bob (Lynda), sister-in-law’s Sheila and Verle.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Leonard, parents Richard and Gladys Johnson along with her siblings Roy, Doug, Dale, Ardith and Mada.
The family would like to thank Dr. Welke and the amazing nursing staff at the Claresholm General Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care during Mom’s final days.
As per Mom’s request there will be no funeral service, but rather a small family gathering where she can be put with Dad for eternity.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in her name to the Stavely & District Agricultural Society, Box 115, Stavely, Alberta T0L 1Z0
Rest in peace Mom, knowing you have left behind an amazing legacy.
