Marion (Marlene) Schmidt

July 18, 1936 - April 25, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Marlene Schmidt announce her passing.

Marlene was born in Wainwright, Alberta on July 18, 1936, the 9th child of James and Elizabeth Wakefield. Marlene grew up on the family farm near Irma, Alberta. Marlene met and married John Schmidt and they settled into the Claresholm farming community. They worked for Leeds Farms and Burt Creek Ranch until such time as they moved into the town of Claresholm. At which time Marlene began a job at the Claresholm Care Centre. Marlene lived her life to the fullest. She always had a joke to tell and a laugh that was unforgettable. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards and coffee with friends. She took great pride in her family. Due to increasing health issues, Marlene spent the last two years of her life in Wainwright where family could be present daily to see to her needs. On Saturday April 25, 2020, Marlene passed away peacefully at Points West Living in Wainwright, Alberta.

She leaves to mourn Jim (Bronwyn) Schmidt and family of Wainwright, Edgar (Lorie) of High River, and Karen (Dave) Armstrong and family of Olds, Alberta.

She was predeceased by her husband John. Brothers Clifford, Keith, Charles and Harry. Sisters, Jean, Muriel, Hazel and Helen.

Due to the current situation, a private family service will be held.
