March 11, 1939 - November 10, 2024
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Marion DeWeese of Claresholm, Alberta on November 10, 2024.
Marion initially trained and worked as a hairdresser, but found that Alberta Government Telephones was a more reliable employer and then worked as a telephone operator. Marion married John DeWeese in 1958, and left AGT for motherhood with the birth of the couple's son Brian Jeffrey in 1959. Marion experienced some significant health challenges during Brian's early years, but bore the couple's daughter, Valerie Ruth, in 1971.
Marion was a loving mother to the couple's two children and their seven grandchildren.
Marion enjoyed the occasional night at the theater, but most of her interests were focused a bit closer to home, and included various traditional folk arts, gardening, and religious study. John and Marion rehomed their beloved Appaloosas when they sold their farm and retired to town.
Marion is very recently predeceased by her husband John, and less recently predeceased by their son, Brian. Marion is also predeceased by her sister Louise Clark, but survived by her sisters Jaqueline Hunt, Bonnie Smith, and her brother Barry Lee.
