Leonard John Middleton – Red to everyone he met – passed away suddenly on October 1, 2025.
Born October 12, 1943 in Flin Flon Manitoba, Red lived a life filled with laughter, hard work and stories that could hold a room. A career truck driver, he knew the open road like an old friend and at the end of the day there would be a cold beer waiting for him. If he wasn’t working you could find him in his garage, happiest with a tool in his hand restoring vehicles and breathing new life into them.
Red had a gift for storytelling – the long winding tales that drew you in only to leave you in stitches by the end. His humor, wit, sarcasm and warm heart made him the center of every gathering.
He loved to canoe, even though he never learned to swim, and he faced life with that same mix of courage and mischief.
Red is lovingly remembered by his wife Sandra Middleton (nee McKenzie), his blended family, Lara Brandrick (nee Middleton), Tim, Kelly, Sean McCrady, James Middleton, and 10 grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him – for his stories, his laughter, and the countless hours spent in the garage with a cup of coffee or beer nearby.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 13, 2025 at the Renfrew Community Association (811 Radford Road NE Calgary, Alberta ) from 2-4 pm.
