Kathleen Hall Obituary

Kathleen “Kathy” Hall

June 3, 1948 ~ January 9, 2023

Kathy (Kohkonen) Hall passed away January 9th, 2023, in Calgary surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Kathy is predeceased by her parents Betty and Raymond Kohkonen and her beloved husband Brent. Kathy is survived and will be missed by her children Kiima (Rich) Cree, Ryan (Terra) Hall, Todd (Dusty) Hall, Kyle (Annie) Hall, Karli (Daniel) Atkinson, Brooke (Josh) Sabey and 26 grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Karie (Tom) Fritts, Nancy (Dave) Colbert and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kathy was born in Seattle, Washington to Betty and Raymond Kohkonen on June 3rd, 1948. At the age of 4, the family moved to Wenatchee, Washington where she was raised. Upon graduation from High School, she attended Brigham Young University in Utah where she met her future husband Brent. They were married on December 2nd, 1969 and moved to Cardston, Alberta and started their family. After the birth of Kiima and Ryan, they moved to Exshaw, where Todd made them a family of five. Three months later the family moved to Logan, Utah, where Kathy completed her studies and graduated from Utah State University in 1976 with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. The family then moved to Kennewick, Washington which gave her the opportunity to live close to her mother and sisters. Kyle joined the family in 1979, and in 1982 they moved to Claresholm, Alberta where they finished raising their family. Karli was born in 1982 and Brooke in 1985.

Kathy was a talented homemaker and skilled seamstress. She spent many hours sewing beautiful quilts, pillowcases, stockings and many other items for her children and grandchildren. She taught sewing lessons to many children in Claresholm.

She worked many years as a Pharmacy Tech at Pharmasave. She treasured the friendships made and the association she had with members of the community through her work.

Kathy was quick to serve when there was a need, lend a hand, offer a kind word or a big hug. She put everyone’s needs before her own. Her laughter was contagious and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

She spent many hours cheering at baseball, soccer and basketball games, piano, skating and dance recitals. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest treasures and she did all she could to let them know of her love for them.

She leaves us with a legacy of love and kindness. She was an amazing sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
