John “Jack” Donovan
August 9, 1936 – October 11, 2023
It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our father John (Jack) Donovan, on October 11, 2023. He passed away peacefully at the Claresholm Hospital. We wish to thank Dr. Smith, nurses; Kaylin, Heather, Carmen and Kelsey for their compassion and care.
Born in Glace Bay, Jack moved his family to Alberta in 1972.
Jack was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years Pearl(Matheson) in 2017. They are now together for eternity. He was also predeceased by his parents Jim and Monica, step mom Althea (Elsie), Brother Timothy and Sisters Sherley and Dolores.
He is survived by his 6 children; Ray, Mary, Joe, Gwen, Steven and Julie. His 14 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grand kids. Sisters Helen(Jerry) Theresa(Gord) Brother Norman, sister in law Mary Matheson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #41 in Claresholm, where he served as Sergeant in Arms and was a member of the Canadian Army. For several years he worked for the Corps of Commissionaires in Calgary, and at the Calgary Airport. He enjoyed going to the casino and his time at the Legion playing nevadas, darts and cribbage.
When he was able to, his favorite thing to do was to go fishing.
