Ivy Danchak (nee: Hayward), aged 64, passed away in the Claresholm General Hospital on August 12, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Bonavista, NFLD, on November 25, 1957, and upon completing her education, moved to St. John's, taking up secretarial work for the Provincial Government. There she met and married her husband, Walter Danchak, in 1982; they resided briefly in Nova Scotia and thereafter in several places in southern Alberta. Ivy was living in Stavely, Alberta, at the time of her demise.
Ivy is survived in Alberta by her husband Walter, her son Jesse (Amy), her grandsons Logan Bastarache and Dimitri Bastarache-Harkema, and her granddaughter Kyelee Marie Danchak.
In Newfoundland, she is survived by her ten siblings: Ibina; Edith, Charlie (Rosalind); Evelyn (Hansel); Ruby (Calvin); Alvina (Ronald); Margaret (Dave); David (Greta); Christine; and Alvin. Also very many much-beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ivy was predeceased by her firstborn son Adam, her oldest brother Jim, and her Mother and Father.
A Celebration of Life will be (tentatively) held at the Faith Community Baptist Church at 4404-3 St W, Claresholm, with Pastor Joseph Steeves officiating at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 27. Relatives and friends are invited to further share the day with Ivy's family for a reception at Faith Community Baptist Church following her service.
