Gordon passed away peacefully on wednesday July 15, 2026 at the Willow Creek Continuing Care center, Claresholm, AB.

Gordon was born in 1942 in Regina Saskatchewan to Annie and Louis Szostak, He was the second of 5 children and has been predeceased by son Clifford, brother Len, and sister Margaret., and survived by His wife Sharon, his Son Darrell and his siblings Judy, and Ron.

Gord left his hometown to join the Navy In 1961. Gord enjoyed his time in the navy, he met Sharon, the love of his life in 1962, and the two formed a loving union together that lasted for the rest of his life.

Gordon worked in the transport industry with positions resulting in many moves where he and Sharon lived in Victoria BC., Nanaimo BC., Regina SK., Calgary , Red Deer, and Lethbridge AB, Winnipeg MB, Vancouver BC., where he finally retired in Claresholm AB.

Gord loved his dogs, his horse, golfing, as well as being creative with wood working and painting, handyman projects, home renovations,  along with his love for history, He assisted with the Nanton  Bomber Command Museum, and was a founding member of the Whispering Pines Black Powder Club.  

At Gordons request, there will be no funeral. Gordon wanted to say that anyone who wants to donate to the charities He and Sharon have supported would be appreciated. (Alzheimer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Canada, Alberta Cancer Society, and the Salvation Army have all been recipients of Gord and Sharon’s generosity.)

Gordon shall be warmly missed by many, remembered as a friendly man who ‘never met a stranger’.
