SEMCHUK, Constance Sandra
(Nee; Crump)
September 12, 1942-May 23, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected and sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and mentor, Constance (Connie) Sandra Semchuk.
Connie was born in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan on September 12, 1942 to Alfred ‘Sidney’ James Crump and Maude Eileen Crump. She was one of seven children.
In 1958 Connie met the love of her life, David (Dave) Martin Semchuk in Rosetown, Saskatchewan and they were married on September 29, 1960. In 1963 they left the prairies for B.C., residing in Vancouver for a brief period before moving on to Prince George with Dave’s work as a lineman with BC Hydro. After fourteen years in Prince George they then moved their young family to Fernie, B.C. There they enjoyed many outdoor activities such as camping, fishing and golfing. Connie and Dave were also avid curlers and could be found many weekends at the Fernie Curling Club. After fourteen years in Fernie, their final move with Dave’s work with BC Hydro was to Kamloops. Connie worked for the BC Liquor Stores in both Fernie and Kamloops until her retirement.
Mom and dad loved to travel and spent many vacations in Hawaii, Jamaica and Mexico to name a few before starting to spend their winters down south in Melaque, Mexico and Yuma, Arizona. Mom enjoyed many activities down south such as water aerobics, bingo, playing darts and of course ‘happy hour’ with friends. She lived life to the fullest and had more fun than most people will ever experience in a lifetime!
Mom also had many various talents, hobbies, so to name only a few seems a disservice.
She was an amazing cook and her homemade perogies were legendary. Anything she cooked was exceptional. She loved to sew, garden and bake. She enjoyed laying out in the sun in the backyard with a water mister keeping her cool while reading a good book. Often with her grandchildren running through the mister. She would try her luck at the casinos, play bingo, Bocci, host weekly dart tournaments with neighbours Barb and Jay and teach her grandsons how to play Crib.
Most of all mom loved spending time with her family! She had the biggest heart and loved unconditionally. She was always so proud of her grandsons and their accomplishments, often travelling to watch them play hockey or whichever sport they were playing at the time. She was even a willing participant when they would try to make her accompany them singing to a rap song.
We are forever grateful that mom was able to attend her grandson Brendan’s wedding in San Diego, California last July. Once again she was the life of the party, with her grandson Jarrod and his friends taking turns twirling her around on the dance floor.
She was bigger than life! Her laugh was infectious and her beautiful smile will never be forgotten!
“She was quite simply remarkable, and fun and the life of the party! And pure joy!”
Connie is predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, David Martin Semchuk, her parents Sidney and Maude Crump, five of her six siblings; sister Maxine Leskiw(brother in-law Walter, four older brothers; James, Russell,Robert and Kent. Her sister in-laws;Marge, Kay, Ann, Georgina Crump, sister in-law Carol Jones (brother in-law Ken).
Connie leaves behind to cherish her memory and mourn her loss her daughter Heather Ann Semchuk, grandsons Anthony Michael Plettl, Kent David Plettl, great grandson Mathew Plettl. Her loving and devoted son Randy Martin Semchuk, daughter in-law Theresa Semchuk, grandsons Brendan David Semchuk (Gabrielle)and Jarrod Lee Semchuk.
Also left to mourn her loss is her youngest sister Janice Cousineau (brother in-law Bryan) sister in-law Sandra Semchuk as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Mom was so fortunate to have met her companion Ken Elke and will be lovingly remembered by him and his family. As well by close family friends Barb McDonnell and Jay Pelletier and many others.
Her legacy is great and she will be fondly remembered by all those who had the privilege of knowing her!
“The light has gone out…the party is over…the fun has left the building.”
Until we meet again mom…You have left a void in our hearts that will never be replaced but we pray that you are at peace and in dad’s arms dancing together once again. Heaven has welcomed a new angel.
There will be no public service but a celebration of life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Kamloops Hospice Association or a charity of your choice.
