Carol Marie Ens died on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021, from the overwhelming experience of Parkinson’s disease. She was a subtle warrior, who continues to be loved by her wife and partner Lottie Devontree (with daughter Gillian and her partner Dana) and her family: mother Elizabeth (Liz); brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Hennie and their children Aaron, Darcie, and Rylund; sister Bev; her wide circle of dear friends, and her two sweet pups Turbo and Nori.
She found joy in softball (her team was inducted into the Alberta and Lethbridge Hall of Fame), broomball, basketball (Gonzaga and Duke forever!), her amazing friends, fantastic pets, and her teaching career. Friends, family and anyone lucky enough to know Carol remember her bright blue eyes, big smile and easy laugh. She was a uniquely positive individual with tons of sass. Countless people deeply valued her friendship.
As a teacher, she brought her patience and sense of fun to generations of kids in Grimshaw and Coaldale. She loved to sing: in choirs, showers, along with the Sound of Music, and anywhere she felt like it. Carol filled her life with music (her music collection fills multiple ipads) and listened most nights as she went to sleep. She loved Christmas, parties and celebrations - any excuse to dress up and be silly (this is a woman with multiple costume onesies). She was full of love; she was love.
"Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with heart and soul, there is no such thing as separation" -Rumi
