Bryan Clark Mandeville
August 14, 1953 – March 27, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bryan Clark Mandeville on Friday, March 27th at the Dulcina Hospice in Calgary, at the age of 66 years after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Bryan was surrounded with love and he peacefully passed.
Bryan was predeceased by his Dad, Harold, Mom, Pearl, grandparents Tom and Lucy Mandeville and Reg and Edna Cansdale along with brother-in-law Neil Pederson. Those left to mourn are his son Chase (Sehame), sister Catherine DeVrye of Sidney, Australia, sister Vicky Pederson, nephew Travis (Rishanne) and newborn great niece Raelynn, niece Julie and Maureen Marston, Bryan’s love of his life along with many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Bryan ‘s passion was rodeo and everything that entailed. It gave Bryan great pleasure to help young cowboys and cowgirls that loved the sport. Bryan was always giving back to the sport. Bryan was a true cowboy as he was raised in the “rodeo world”. Many years were spent as a family heading down the road to another rodeo. Bryan competed in steer wrestling winning many awards and trophies.
Bryan was versatile. In the late 70’s he started his long lasting working relationship and career in the movie industry as a Teamster which continued right up until the fall of 2019. He worked in the carpentry industry building homes, western wear retail and eventually joined the Copenhagen/Skoal Chewing Tobacco team in the mid 80’s for a very successful career as division manager, working up to district manager in western Canada for close to 20 years. Bryan was outstanding as a promotor, mentoring sales reps, and well known and respected for his “unique” marketing skills and style. This avenue allowed Bryan to embrace the sport of Chuckwagon racing, and Copenhagen/Skoal was a long time sponsor of driver Buddy Bensmiller, ultimately winning the CS $50,000 in 2003. Always one to enjoy a party, he was acclaimed for putting on the best Stampede parties, BBQ’s and golf tournaments to name just a few celebrations he was noted for. In the mid 2000’s, Bryan joined the Calgary Stampede Rodeo Committee and was the G-65 Chairperson. Bryan once again shined in this area hosting rodeo competitors and their families on both sides of the border making many long lasting connections and friendships. In 2010, Bryan ventured out and formed his own company Silver Buckle Mobile Trailer Brightening. Bryan put his heart and soul into this business, while continuing to make further contacts in the rodeo, farming and ranching communities.
A proud moment for Bryan was the birth of his son Chase. He was often quoted that Chase was one of his greatest accomplishments in his life.
A celebration of Bryan's life will be held at a later date due to the COVID-19 virus.
At Bryan's request, a Rodeo Scholarship will be established in his memory.
