Betty Irma (Abelson) Mainprize

Born on May 11, 1947, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Betty was the daughter of Albert and Irma Abelson. She was raised in Calgary, where she earned her teaching degree and attended the Alberta College of Art. It was at a dance where she met the love of her life, Lee. They fell instantly in love and were married on September 26, 1970. The couple built a beautiful life together in Claresholm, Alberta, where they settled and established their home, business, and family. They welcomed their son, Dylan, on June 14, 1975, and later adopted their daughter, Jamie, on May 11, 1986. Her children were her pride and joy. A lifelong artist, Betty found joy in all forms of creation and shared her love of color and design with others through her teaching and sharing. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering optimism were an inspiration to her family and friends. Her passion for life and her great sense of humor will be remembered and missed dearly by all who knew her. Betty is survived by her loving husband, Lee and her children, Dylan (Heather), Jamie and her brother Brian (Kamali) and their children, Anand and Thara. She was a cherished grandmother to Bradley and Noah, whom she loved dearly.
