Our Mother, Grandmother, & Great Grandmother Barbara Nelson went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 27, 2023 at the age of 86 surrounded by her family.

Barb was born in Claresholm on March 31, 1937 and raised in the Claresholm/Stavely area. On April 19, 1957 she married Bert Nelson. They spent many years farming and raising 3 children on a mixed farm west of Stavely and later retired in Claresholm.

Barb will be remembered for her exceptional pastry making skills and her pies were enjoyed by all. Her beautiful singing voice was appreciated over the years at funerals and wedding showers in her community. She briefly worked as a clerk for CIBC and then spent most of her time as a loving mother and homemaker. She was also a Cub Scout leader for many years and also enjoyed watching figure skating, curling, golf and Hallmark movies. Her favorite hobby was reading by the hour. Spending time with her grandchildren brought her a lot of joy and she attended every concert, recital, and sports event to cheer them on. Barb also enjoyed every picture and facetime opportunity with her Great Grandchildren as they don’t live close by.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her son Craig Nelson, daughters Donna Erickson, and Carma (Stefan) Ulrich and grandchildren, Matthew (Meagan), Jonathan (Andrea), Carlina, Amy, and great grandchildren Sydney and Noah.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Bert and parents James (Johnny) and Mona Yorgason.
