Allan Edward Engel

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Allan Edward Engel on May 31, 2026.

Born in Calgary to Georgina and Edward Engel on November 22, 1949, Allan is survived by his sister (Ellen), his two children (Josh and Amanda) and his two step-children (Corrie-Ann and Gina). He was loved by Cathy, Laurie and Joy during his life, as well as countless friends, family members, neighbours and colleagues.

Al was a loyal member of the Atco (CWNG) team until his retirement in 2000. In 2015 he relocated to the town of Claresholm. Unicycler extraordinaire, chicken enthusiast, motorcycle lover and all-around fun guy, Al had a goofy one-liner ready at a moment’s notice. One of the kindest and most generous people one could ever wish to meet, Al was also the consummate host. A tinker, a thinker and a glass clinker, he brought smiles to the faces of all he met. His loss will be widely felt and his memory lovingly cherished.

A casual celebration of life will be held at his Claresholm residence at an undecided future date.
