William “Bill” Ernest Mackeand

September 11, 1934 – November 16, 2019

 

Bill MacKeand passed away peacefully at the Claresholm General Hospital on November 16, 2019 at the age of 85 years.

He is survived by his former common law wife Julie Gravells, his daughter Barb Garber, son Bill Zelasko, step children Chris and Emily Picco 4 grandchildren and various nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by his mother Grace Thorton, father William Aubrey MacKeand brothers, Norman, Ron, Donald , his son David MacKeand, his first wife Kathleen Lillian MacKeand and second wife Bobby Picco/MacKeand

Bill, also known as “Grouchy” to his friends in Claresholm, Alberta, lived much of his life in Walkerton, Ontario, and then moved to Claresholm, Alberta.

Bill worked lots of jobs, notably the CN Railroad for 9 years, Kroehlers for 11 years and several years at KC Doors in Stavely. He was a jack of many trades. Bill enjoyed travelling to Victoria, BC with Julie on several vacations where he made many new friends. In Claresholm, he made new friends whom he liked to joke with. Bill and Julie enjoyed bowling on a team as well as cycling, gardening and baking at Christmas.

Bill will be sadly missed by all, especially by his friends at the Bell Hotel and the neighbours that took such great care of him in town.
