James Sykes Whyte

James Sykes Whyte passed away peacefully at the age of 88, after a long battle with cancer, and Parkinson's disease on November 18,2019
James was born May 27, 1931 at Claresholm Alberta, he attended school in Stavely, Claresholm and Drywood country school near Pincher Creek, Alberta. Jim learned Diesel mechanics.
He married Barbara Joan Rollingson in 1954.They had four children, Moved to Calgary, and then to an acreage near Okotoks.
The outdoors called him, to drive his own truck and see the country, which he did for thirty five years, with his family by his side on many occasions, from there he worked in the Northwest Territories hunting camps then a grazing lease rider for the Livingstone gap and on Pharis's Elk Horn Ranch. Jim continued working there for several years, until he could no longer. He talked about someday being able to have his own little cow herd, and he did.
He joined the Cowley Lions Club, and thoroughly enjoyed volunteering with them and the friendships he had there.
James (Jim) was predeceased by his brother Bruce, sister Joan, wife Barbara (Joan) in 1994 and daughter Renee.
Jim is survived by his long time companion Edith, his children; Lorne (Lindsey), Diane(Kerry) Laycraft, Judy (Robert) Beattie, 8 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild.
A Celebration of life will be held at the Cowley Community Centre in Cowley, Alberta on November 26, 2019 at 1:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted by the Lions Club and the Canadian Cancer Society - 200, 325 Manning Rd NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2P5
